Description

What it is

Semax is a synthetic peptide based on a fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone — the ACTH(4–10) sequence — with a C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro extension. That extension increases stability against peptidase activity while removing the hormonal activity associated with full-length ACTH.

Research context

Used in neuropeptide research, including studies of peptide stability, neurotrophic factor expression and central nervous system signalling.

Handling

Supplied lyophilised in a sealed 3 mL vial. Store sealed vials refrigerated and protected from light. Reconstitute with an appropriate sterile diluent immediately before use and keep reconstituted material cold. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
