Description
What it is
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide derived from the endogenous immunomodulatory tetrapeptide tuftsin, extended with a stabilising amino acid sequence that increases its resistance to enzymatic degradation relative to tuftsin itself.
Research context
Investigated in neuropeptide research, including work on peptide stability, blood–brain barrier permeability and interactions with neurotransmitter and immune signalling pathways.
Handling
Supplied lyophilised in a sealed 3 mL vial. Store sealed vials refrigerated and protected from light. Reconstitute with an appropriate sterile diluent immediately before use and keep reconstituted material cold. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
